A Breast Lift Can Transform Your Figure

...After Pregnancy

Pregnancy is one of life’s greatest gifts, but it can cause some unwanted changes to the body. After breastfeeding, the breasts lose volume and may begin to sag. A lift can restore a youthful shape to your bust.

...After Weight Loss

Since breasts primarily consist of fat tissue and skin, weight loss can cause your breasts to appear small or deflated. By tightening skin and lifting the breasts, you can achieve an enhancement that complements your new figure.

...After Years of Feeling Self-Conscious

Some women have had sagging or asymmetrical breasts since their teenage years. A lift can help you achieve the profile you have always wanted.

Let's dive deeper...How does a breast lift work?

How Do I Know If I Need a Breast Lift? Ask Yourself:

Am I happy with the appearance of my breasts?

If you are satisfied with the size of your breasts but not their shape, you may benefit from a breast lift. Other breast surgery procedures such as augmentation or reduction may be recommended alone or in combination with a lift to address the size of your breasts.

Are my breasts asymmetrical?

If one breast is noticeably different than the other, a lift can create symmetry. It can also restore a round shape to elongated breasts.

Does my nipple sag below the crease under my breast?

When looking in the mirror, examine where the nipple is located in relation to the inframammary fold. A lift may be recommended if your nipple sits below the crease.

Do my nipples point downward, or are my areolas enlarged?

If your nipples point downward rather than forward, a breast lift can reposition the nipples. A lift can also reduce areola size.

What does surgery involve?

A Breast Lift Typically Involves Four Steps

Prior to surgery, your doctor will evaluate the size and shape of your breasts, the position of your nipples, and the elasticity of your skin to determine the most suitable approach.

Anesthesia

Your doctor will administer anesthesia for your comfort.

Incisions

Your doctor will then make an incision around the areola. The incision may extend down to the breast crease as well as horizontally along the crease depending on the amount of lift needed.

Reshaping

The doctor can lift the underlying breast tissue, reposition the nipple, reduce the size of the areola, and remove excess skin.

Closing the Incisions

After the breasts are recontoured, the skin is gently tightened and the incisions are closed.

Your results will be immediately visible, though it will take time for swelling to subside and incision lines to fade. To experience long-lasting results, you should maintain a consistent weight and a healthy lifestyle.

Should I consider a different surgical solution?

Breast Lift vs. Augmentation and Breast Reduction

Breast Augmentation

Size and shape are enhanced through the placement of silicone or saline implants, or the patient's own grafted fat tissueBreast reconstruction can use these same techniques (often in combination with skin grafting) to completely recreate the breast mound after mastectomy or injury.

Breast Lift

Sagging breasts are made firmer, perkier, and shapelier through the removal reshaping of skin and fat tissue. A breast lift can be combined with implants for more dramatic results.

Breast Reduction

The breasts are reduced in size for the purpose of creating improved proportions and reducing physical strainBreast reduction can be combined with lift surgery. In some cases, breast reduction is considered medically necessary in order to alleviate back and neck pain.

How do the costs compare?

Average Surgeon's Fees*

*These averages do not include anesthesia, aftercare expenses, facility fees, and other expenses.

**Insurance may contribute if the procedure is considered medically necessary.

How much downtime does each procedure require?

Necessary Time away from Work and Strain

Breast Augmentation

Patients can usually resume desk work within 3 to 7 daysSubmuscular placement (below the pectoral muscle) requires more downtime than subglandular placement (above the pectoral muscle). It may take a month before it is safe to resume strenuous exercise.

Breast Lift

Patients should take about a week before resuming non-strenuous work. This is true with or without implants. Heavy lifting and other strain should be avoided for about a month.

Breast Reduction

Non-strenuous work can be resumed after about 10 to 14 days. Any contact with the breasts for the first four to six weeks must be gentle.

What is the best way to achieve the bustline I want?

Talk to a Surgeon

You should feel great about your breasts. If you don’t, a breast lift or another breast surgery procedure can help. Talk to your doctor about your surgical goals to find out if a lift is the best way to transform your figure.
